2018 has been a roller coaster ride. I’ve tried writing several drafts of a blog post to sum up this past year & I’m failing. So here’s a quickie.

The theme of each draft keeps going back to one word: Faith.

Keeping the faith: It has been a year of taking risks. My husband and I had to hold tightly to our faith that what we were doing, every step of the way, was going to be worth it. But there was so much uncertainty. So much fear. So many obstacles. So many tears.

Keeping the faith: I published my first novel. I have had no expectations with it except that it was my dream to share it. It’s not a story everyone likes. It even pissed off some people, which is ok. Because it also spoke to a lot of people. I can’t thank you enough for supporting me in this journey. I won’t forget your encouraging words of support, and I promise you I will write more books (and a NZ edition of the Woman Enough profiles to come)!

Keeping the faith: It’s been a year of loss. I’ve formed a good relationship with grief over the years but it still knocks me sideways, proving yet again it’s not something that can be controlled. So I allow it to enter my space, trusting that I will get through it.

Keeping the faith: There has also been a lot of love this year. I must acknowledge my friends who have been so patient as I haven’t been able to give as much as I normally do. Extra shout-out to my cousins who lift me up and who make things so easy, natural, and positive. Thank you. I’m SO eager to focus on these relationships in 2019.

Thank you for following my knackered truth journey! Let’s tackle this new year full of faith.

Happy New Year!

  1. Lissa…you don’t know me, but I feel like I know you. I wanted to let you know that I appreciate your writing both this blog and especially your book. I for one am glad you took that leap of faith and hope you are able to continue with your writing as well as raising a family and trying to lead a “normal” life. Enjoy the adventure and the ups and downs along the way. Be strong and be you!!🤗

    1. Hi, Jane!
Thank you for reading my work! I truly appreciate it. I’m working on two projects right now, so I’m very busy! For me, writing is like breathing, so I pretty much have to do it no matter what. Have a great New Year and thank you again for your words of support! 🙂
